Using CDCP in Woodbridge or Maple: Where to Go and What to Ask

Where can you use CDCP from Woodbridge or Maple

At Keele & Steeles Dental Office, 2100 Steeles Ave W, Suite 203-204, Concord. It is accepting new CDCP patients right now, Sun Life is billed directly, and Woodbridge and Maple both sit inside the areas already served, along with Vaughan, Concord, Thornhill, Richmond Hill, North York and Toronto.

That is the whole answer to the search you probably just typed. The rest of this page is about how to check a clinic before you commit, because the coverage is the easy part and the billing arrangement is where people get surprised.

If you are still working out what the plan pays for, the CDCP page covers who qualifies, what is covered, how to apply and what to bring. Start there if that is what you need.

What accepting CDCP and billing it directly mean

Accepting CDCP is a willingness statement. Billing Sun Life directly is a process someone at the front desk actually performs.

A clinic can accept the plan and still ask you to pay the full amount at the desk. That matters more than it sounds, because under CDCP rules, patients who pay the full cost themselves do not get reimbursed. There is no receipt you mail in afterwards to get your money back. If the claim does not go to Sun Life from the clinic, the coverage is doing nothing for you.

Direct billing is the only arrangement that makes the plan work as intended. Confirm it in one sentence on the phone before you take a time slot.

Will you pay anything on the day

When your CDCP coverage is 100 percent, CDCP is accepted as full payment. At the 40 or 60 percent tier you pay the difference, and you get a written quote before you decide anything.

One more line decides the size of that difference. A difference between the ODA fee guide and the CDCP fee schedule can apply, and this office never passes it on to you.

For the tier maths, first-visit costs, per-treatment amounts and which treatments need pre-authorization, read what CDCP covers at the dentist. Those numbers live there, not here.

Questions to ask a clinic before you book

Use this on any clinic, not just this one. Five questions, and whoever picks up the phone can usually point you to the answers, or to the person who has them.

  1. Do you bill Sun Life directly, or do I pay and claim it back? If the answer is pay-and-claim, remember that CDCP does not reimburse patients who pay the full cost themselves.
  2. Do you charge the difference between the ODA fee guide and the CDCP fee schedule? That is a line item that either lands on your bill or does not, so ask before you book.
  3. Will I get a written quote before any treatment starts? You want the number in writing before you agree to anything, not a verbal estimate while you are already in the chair.
  4. Are you accepting new CDCP patients right now? Accepting CDCP in principle and having room for a new CDCP patient this month are two different things.
  5. How soon can I be seen? Ask for a real date.

If the person on the phone cannot answer question two, that is not a reason to hang up. Ask again, or ask to speak to whoever handles the billing.

How to get to Keele and Steeles

The office is on the second floor at Suite 203-204, with elevator access, and free plaza parking sits right outside the door.

On transit, the TTC 60 Steeles West and 41 Keele both stop at Steeles and Keele. YRT 107 Keele runs north on Keele from Pioneer Village. Pioneer Village station on Line 1 sits about 1.5 km west along Steeles if you are coming up on the subway.

Booking your first CDCP visit

New patients are usually seen within the same week they call, often faster. The doors are open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday, and Saturday is a full working day for every treatment rather than hygiene only. Monday to Saturday runs 8AM to 3PM, with Tuesday and Thursday also open 3PM to 6PM by appointment, and Sunday closed. You can confirm all of that on the contact page.

If this is your first appointment, what to expect as a new patient covers the visit itself, and most CDCP readers are booking an exam and cleaning.

Avoiding application scams

Applying for the CDCP is free. Any call, text or letter asking you to pay a fee to apply or renew is a scam.

How to apply and how renewal works are both set out on the CDCP page.

What if you have IFHP instead

Refugees and protected persons covered under the Interim Federal Health Program are welcome, with the same direct billing arrangement. See IFHP dental coverage in Ontario for how that plan works.

The front desk speaks English, Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Korean and Farsi, which helps when you are sorting out billing in a language other than your first.

Common questions

Is there a dentist in Woodbridge that accepts CDCP?

Keele & Steeles Dental Office at 2100 Steeles Ave W, Suite 203-204, Concord, serves Woodbridge and is accepting new CDCP patients now. Sun Life is billed directly, so you do not pay the covered portion yourself and wait for money back.

What is the difference between accepting CDCP and billing it directly?

Accepting CDCP means a clinic is willing to see CDCP patients. Billing directly means the clinic sends the claim to Sun Life and collects the covered portion from them, not from you. Under CDCP rules a patient who pays the full cost themselves does not get reimbursed, so direct billing is the arrangement that protects your money.

Will I have to pay anything on the day?

If your coverage is 100 percent, CDCP is accepted as full payment. At the 40 or 60 percent tier you pay the difference. The gap between the ODA fee guide and the CDCP fee schedule is never charged here, and you get a written quote before you decide anything.

Can I use CDCP if I live in Maple?

Yes. Maple is one of the areas served, alongside Vaughan, Concord, Woodbridge, Thornhill, Richmond Hill, North York and Toronto. CDCP is a federal plan and is not tied to a particular neighbourhood, so what matters is finding a clinic that bills Sun Life directly.

Are you taking new CDCP patients?

Yes. New CDCP patients are being accepted right now, and new patients are usually seen within the same week they call. All three dentists are registered with the RCDSO and two of the three are currently accepting new patients.

What do I bring to my first CDCP appointment?

Your CDCP member card, photo ID, and a list of any medications you take. The medication list matters before anyone freezes a tooth.

How do I apply for the CDCP?

The CDCP page sets out how to apply and how renewal works. Applying is free, and anyone asking you for a fee to apply or renew is running a scam.

What if I have IFHP instead?

Refugees and protected persons covered under IFHP are welcome, with the same direct billing. You will not be asked to pay upfront and claim it back later.

Booking from Woodbridge or Maple

Request an appointment on the contact page and mention CDCP, or call 905-760-8181. The form is a request rather than an instant booking. The front desk confirms your time by phone, and you can put the billing questions to them in that same call.
