Facts reviewed
September 2026
Deeper than any toothbrush
Tartar hardens onto teeth within days and no home tool removes it. Professional scaling clears it from above and below the gumline.
The earliest warning system
Cavities, gum disease and oral cancer all start silently. An exam finds them at the stage where treatment is small, cheap and painless.
That fresh-mouth feeling
Polished smooth, stain lifted, breath reset. There is a reason people book cleanings before weddings and reunions.

What happens at a cleaning visit

Your hygienist scales away plaque and tartar, polishes surface stains from coffee and tea, and checks the health of your gums pocket by pocket. It is meticulous, unhurried work, and if your gums are tender we adjust. Comfort is a rule here, not a luxury.

The doctor then examines your teeth, bite, existing dental work and soft tissues, with digital X-rays when due. You see everything on the screen, explained in plain language. If nothing needs work, we say exactly that: nothing needs work.

It's time for a cleaning if
It has been more than six months
Your gums bleed or look puffy at the edges
Coffee or tea stain is building up
Your breath does not feel fresh anymore
You are a new patient and want a full baseline

Your journey, visit by visit

1
STEP 01
Gum check
A quick, painless measurement of your gum health tells us exactly how your cleaning should be tailored.
2
STEP 02
Scaling
Plaque and tartar are removed above and below the gumline. The careful, thorough part brushing can never do.
3
STEP 03
Polish & floss
Surface stains lifted and enamel smoothed so plaque has a harder time sticking, finished with a proper floss.
4
STEP 04
The exam
The doctor reviews your teeth, gums and X-rays with you and answers everything before you leave.

Cost & coverage, in plain language

A new-patient exam and cleaning in Vaughan is usually fully covered by insurance and by CDCP, billed directly so you pay nothing at the desk. Without coverage you get the price when you book, not after.

Your questions, answered honestly

It should not. Tenderness usually means gums that need the cleaning most, and we numb, pause and adjust as needed. Tell us once and we adapt the whole visit.
Plan for about an hour for a cleaning and exam together. A first visit with full X-rays can run a little longer.
Most insurance plans cover cleanings and exams entirely, and we bill your plan directly. Without insurance, we quote you the exact fee when you book.
Yes. Cleanings, exams and X-rays are covered CDCP services. Depending on your income tier there may be a co-pay, which we confirm before your visit.
Decay between teeth and bone loss under the gums are invisible to the naked eye. We take X-rays only when due, and digital sensors keep the dose very low.
Ask at your visit. A cleaning first is actually the right order, since whitening works better on freshly cleaned enamel.

"I didn't think this dental team could get any better than the excellence my family has experienced in the last 20 years. Today was the cherry on top. Dr Somesh Sharma has worked endlessly on dissolving old fears I held from childhood about dental visits and so I did feel comfortable entering the beautifully renovated modern office today. Maria is a master in her field and yet Sabrina (hope I have name correct) was genuinely curious about myself, my habits and even the care I take in looking after my elderly Dad. For a moment during our cleaning session I drifted away. Feeling like I was in a hammock at the spa. Just want to say thank you and I'll see you in 6 months."

"We have been the patients of Dr. Sharma and hygienist Maria since 2005 and we have absolutely the best things to say about their service, their staff and their workplace. They take outmost care of their patients, listen carefully and are willing to accommodate with great attention and detail. Monica is the sweetest receptionist ever and always greets with a big smile. THANK YOU for your services."

"Dr. D. Bhardwaj is the most skilled and attentive dentist I have ever encountered. The hygienist, Sabrina, is also a true professional whose work perfectly matches the clinic's high standards. Thank you as well for the warm hospitality shown by the entire team including Monica and everyone else."

"This dental office is reasonably priced and honest about what you NEED. I told them I cannot afford a full dental screening again because my budget is tight, so they only X-rayed the section of my mouth that was sensitive. They did that so my bill would be lower. Amazing. They didn't even try to upsell me anything. I talked to them about veneers and they told me I didn't really need them. Patient for life."
